A Letter to the CommunityDear Friends of the Army, The Salvation Army helps people in need through ministries and programs that bring hope. We offer long-term solutions to the problems of homelessness, drug addiction, low literacy, unemployment and poverty. For every dollar contributed, 86 cents goes directly to people, programs, and services. In 2005, the Army responded to more than 56,100 service needs and requests in Franklin County. And yet, there is still much more to be done. This year, we will move into two newly constructed Worship and Service Centers. The new centers will enable us to better serve the people within our community, and to be a catalyst for change as we stand on the front lines providing timely services and utilizing resources faithfully. No doubt we face challenging days ahead. Yet, we know the sustaining power of The Salvation Army lies in faithfulness and obedience to the God-given call to serve OTHERS in His name without discrimination. With your continued commitment and support, we will make Columbus a different and better place—one life at a time, 365 days a year. We thank the people of Greater Columbus for sharing our vision and helping us to sustain our mission. It is our on-going pledge to strengthen our communities and bring hope to those less fortunate by “doing the most good” every day! God Bless You, Majors Paul and Alma Cain Area Coordinators |
