Career Enhancement Center

Employment skills are critical tools in maintaining success and stability for a family.  Many low-income adults lack the skills to find employment with a livable wage.  Many of them face so many barriers to work (e.g. transportation, child care, etc.) that it is difficult to maintain employment.

The Salvation Army's Career Enhancement Center addresses these issues by enhancing employment skills, alleviating barriers to employment while providing assessments, job training and job placement assistance.

The Career Enhancement Center is part of a collaborative project called East Side Employment Collaborative (ESEC).  ESEC is comprised of 5 social service agencies including The Salvation Army, Jewish Family Services, Community Connection, St. John's Learning Center and Central Community House.  All 5 agencies work together to provide job training and placement services.  The ESEC collaborative has been developed in the spirit of cooperation to holistically support job seekers in their personal development.

Who is eligible: Women and African American men at or below 200% of the poverty level.
